Label split codes are used in label split tables to define groups of labels that must be broken out and printed separately from the main body of the issue labels. Click here for more information on how label split codes are used in label split tables.
You must define label split codes from the 'Split codes' screen; this screen also provides the ability to view the entire list of label split codes as well as to change and delete them or add new ones.
Defining label split codes
When you select 'Label splits' under 'Definitions' on the main menu, and then select 'Split Codes', you'll see one of two screens. If you select 'Split Codes' for the first time after installing QuickFill, you'll see a screen with a blank form for defining the split code.
If you've already defined some label split codes, you'll see a list of the codes that you've defined in the upper portion of the screen and the "New," "Change," "Replicate," and "Delete" options running along the bottom.
If you haven't yet defined any label split codes, fill in the blank form and click on "OK" to save your changes.
You can define another label split code by clicking on "New," filling in the fields described below, and then clicking on "OK." If the label split code you want to define next is similar to one you've already defined, you can replicate the existing code by moving the cursor to it and clicking on "Replicate."
Split code
Enter a code to define the group of labels—for example, WEST for the western regional edition.
Description
Enter a brief description of the group—"Western edition," for example. The split code description will appear on the header label of the group when you print issue labels.
You can also change the definition of a label split code by moving the cursor to it and double clicking on it, or clicking on "Change." You can delete a label split code that is not being used by moving to it and clicking on "Delete."
If you delete a label split code, you must also change all of the split tables that reference that code. If you do not do this, the labels will be split out, but the split code description will not appear on the header labels of your issue labels.
