Use this command to make a copy of your database. If you have a large database it can help improve performance for your data entry staff if you have two copies of your database, a "current" copy for data entry and a "reference" copy that is a day or two old that is used for running reports. Having a copy of your database can also be helpful if you want to experiment with your settings, such as when you are trying out a new renewal series, or a new set of label splits for your issue labels.
Copies of databases made using this command are automatically placed into test mode, where all credit card transactions are sent to a test server instead of the live production server. When QuickFill is in test mode the QuickFill window title includes the words "Test Mode". To change a database to live mode, remove the check mark from the 'Credit card transaction test mode' box on the preferences screen.
We suggest that you use the Backup command on the Other menu for creating archival copies of your database to guard against data loss. The Backup command creates compressed "Zip" files which are much smaller than the database itself, typically by a factor of five.
Note: the database copy cannot be given a name that matches the current database. This helps avoids confusion over which database is the current copy and which is the reference copy.
